About

I love my own back yard, Scotland. I also love to eat and drink and people watch and discover hidden gems and, most importantly, take photos and write about everything I have stumbled upon while roamin in the gloamin and, occasionally, when I venture beyond our bonnie shores. 🙂 In short, I am devouring Scotland and enjoying every moment!

  3. Is the stag in the photo a red deer? Was it taken in Scotland?

  4. I’ve had the most glorious browse round your site this morning – it really is one of my all time favourites – combines three of my favourite things: food, photography and Scotland. Thanks for sharing!

(PS. Now going on my blogroll!)

  5. Great images! Makes me want to visit Scotland.

  6. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! I love your site. I, too, am a lover of beautiful places and food. Keep up the great work!

  7. I just came across your wonderful blog. Congrats on being freshly pressed. I lived in Scotland for ten glorious years, now in the US. You mention some of my all-time favourite places here – Three Chimneys, Applecross, the West End where I used to live, places that have touched my heart and remain there!! I look forward to following you in the future.

If you ever get to Balquidder, try dinner at Monachyle Mhor – wonderful small restaurant and hotel, we spent our honeymoon there and get back whenever we can.

    Thanks for sharing!

    • That’s lovely Jo- Thank you very much! I’ve been a bit lazy lately and not done much blogging, but i fixed that today. Since Christmas I have had food on the brain, so it only seemed appropriate to feature this as my latest entry. I have only managed to make myself hungry though!

      Happy New Year! 🙂

  13. Hi Jacqui

I came across your blog on my digital travels on the web and thought I’d get in touch to tell you a bit about an opportunity you might be interested in. I’m currently working on a new prime time cooking show for Channel 4 called ‘The Taste’ which will feature some big names in food including Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain.

The concept behind the show is that it doesn’t matter how experienced you are in the kitchen, whether you’re a home cook, professional chef, food blogger, whatever – if your food tastes good then that’s what counts. The show itself is sort of like a cross between Masterchef and The Voice (odd analogy I know). It’s a competitive cooking competition where a mixture of amateur and professional cooks present food to our panel of food experts in the hope of impressing them enough to be mentored by one of them through the competition. All the food that is presented to the judges/mentors is done so blind, so they know nothing about the cook until after they have tasted and formed their opinions on the food. At this point they decide if they would like that cook to be part of “team Nigella” or “team Anthony” or “team Ludo”– hence the comparison with The Voice.

Having seen your blog I thought you might be interested in applying to take part in the show? We have an online application form you can fill out which you can find a link to on our channel 4 take part page (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/take-part/articles/all/the-taste).

We’ll be holding auditions for the show in Glasgow on the 3rd September so if you’d like to be considered for an audition slot it’s important to fill out an application form as soon as possible.

If you have any questions at all then I’d be happy to answer them for you. Feel free to email me or call me direct on 0207 153 0663.

    Best wishes,

    Neil

  14. Neil, thanks. This sounds very exciting, mainly as I adore Anthony Bourdain. Like, A LOT! I have a serious amount of stuff going on at the moment but I will have a look into it.
Again, thanks for letting me know.
